Well, I have a 6 core machine, with 16GB of ram. I have no issues with the process eating up CPU. From what I have seen, Internet Explorer actually eats up more CPU with the plugin, than with my Opera configuration.

I don't know how it works on your machine but on mine the battlelog website uses 50% (maxing one core) of my CPU while open. So rather than get rid of an 'annoying' message saying it is not supported, I think I will take heed of the message and not have half my CPU getting chewed up by a bug in the website/browser setup while trying to play the game.

I would say start with updating windows in general. Make sure you are full patched. Then go to the battlelog.battlefield.com and install the browser plugin. After that, update your graphics drivers to match the versions stated to work with your cards. EA has a link directly to correct AMD (ATI) and nVidia GPU drivers tested with the game. After that, install Origin. Before installing it, be sure to completely uninstall any previous versions of Origin.

Now. Right click the installer and pull up properties, do not just run it. Under compatibility settings, click on "change settings for all users" at the bottom. Then click, run this in compatibility mode and change it to Vista SP2. This is the important part. . Once you do that, you can then right click it and run as administrator on the installer. Once origin is installed, go to settings and scroll down. Look for the check box that says "update to pre-release version if available" and make "automatically keep my games up to date" checked as well. Once all of that is done and Origin is updated, then do the install of BF3.

Thanks. Help spread the word. If you know others are having trouble, point them here or even just tell them how its done. EA has tried to help with this, but when I figured it out, I let them know in the Ticket I had opened. I never even heard back from them on this, and people seem to still be requesting help from EA on it, so not sure if they dropped the ball or what.
